A Classic Elegant Pin Up
Featuring Lady Emerald Emmaline
What state or country are you from?
What is your style? (Classic Pinup, Everyday Vintage, Gothabilly, Geekabilly, Rock n Roll, etc)
Classic Elegant: a combo of True Vintage and Modern Pinup.
What do you love about your style?
It suits me, complements my body and look, and is my own take on a variety of looks.
How did you discover your style and how long have you been wearing your style?
My style has evolved over the years. I've always enjoyed classic and elegant, accompanied by my own touches of flowers, hats, makeup and jewellery... My Mum bought me Instyle magazine at 14 and I went from sporty - beachie - hippie to wanting to emulate Old Hollywood and Oscar's red carpet looks whenever I could. (Still do the other 3 styles though!)
What are your go to brands?
I love to mix Australian fashion brands and local business finds with op-shop, market and specialist vintage pieces. I am inspired by Dior and Chanel, as well as the 40s-50s and will buy brands like Hell Bunny, Banned and Dolly and Dotty to complement my other finds.
Favourite band or singer?
- Australian artists like Katie Noonan, Missy Higgins, The Waifs and The Audreys.
- Internationally, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Florence and the Machine and Lily Allen.
Favourite outfit or item? (Dress, shoes, handbag etc)
My hand painted 1950s Atomic vintage dress (pictured at IMF) and my faux fur stole. I also have a coat I bought over 10 years ago that goes with everything - I invest in key, classic pieces.
What was the last event you went to while wearing your style?
The Pin up show for IMF in Chelsea. I have to tone my pinup style down for work, but will wear feature earrings or a red lip to put my stamp on an outfit.
Do you have any tips or tricks to help other people wanting to dress your style?
Get a good bra-fitting, look at clothing garment measurements instead of tag sizes and wear what feels comfortable for you and your body!
